That's not entirely true though. Yes the Ivy Bridge is the die shrink of the Sandy Bridge design and Yes it is not entirely new architecture but there is also further fefinement and optimization in the micro code in Ivy Bridge compare to Sandy one so they differ in many more ways than just the die shrink as you suggest. However I do agree that for completely new architecture we have to wait till Haswell will arrive.

No, no, you misinterpreted me. I'm not saying more cores won't help (i know they most definitely will). I'm just saying that the devices on the market are as they are, Optimus G has 4 cores, Nexus 10 has 2. You can't give Nexus 10 a "blows competition away" credit even though the scores are almost equal, just because it has lesser cores. That's a what-if scenario, but we're dealing with real devices here.

First of all, even in analogies, comparing automobiles and mobiles is not fair. If automobile sector had grown at the speed of mobiles, we'd be seeing cars go at 1 million km/hr and have crazy fuel economy.

I don't think a single core with an adreno 320 would give the same score as an optimus g. cores may not matter too much in the graphics dept but they definitely help

Yea, I get the GLbenchmark focus on the GPU, but both S2 and S3 use Mali-400, and yet the S3 managed to outscore S2. Yea, I realise CPU cores may not mean much but surely using the same GPU on a quad-core would show a better score right?
