You don't seem to know what you are talking about, there have been several of lens add-ons for iPhones. Non of them improve image quality. The basic models of the will i am series are just that, simple lens add ons, that offer special effects, but no image quality impovement. What they do however is make the iPhone incompatible with a huge range os acessories, since it makes the device sustantially bigger.

The high end models offers a separate 14 megapixel camera, but it was only at prototype stage, and we know nothing about the image quality. Besides, you said iDevice camera, so that doesnt fit your own statement, since it no longer uses the camera of the iPhone.

HDR is already there in the iPhone software, and that is the only real software improvement.

So if you buy an iDevice, the camera that is in there, is all you get image quality-wise. You can get lenses, for fish-eye, macro or tele, but they will all degrade the image quality, due to the fact that you cant replace the original lens of the iDevice itself, and adding another lens to a finished lens system will always degrade image quality, no matter how expensive. Sure the amount of degradation can be more or less, depending on the construction, but you will always get degradation.

The only way to get better image quality out of your iDevice, is to use wireless or wiered connection to another camera, using another lens and another sensor, and an app... and there already are such cameras out there, the only difference with the overexpensive will i am kit is that it attaches itself to the iphone, and that it packs a keyboard, but on the other hand, those other cameras will offer much better image quality, or if you go for a cheap one, at least much better value for money.

But if someone wants a iOS camera, let them want it, and dont go ranting about products that simply does not exists.

Well, Sony's RX-1 manages to be quite pocketable with a full frame sensor. So apparently it IS possible. Probably overkill in most situations, but APS-C (which is what, 4x smaller then full frame) would be nice.

Gives it a rest with the APS-C! I know why not but a full frame senor in it. I'm sure it would still be pocket-able............ in your big backpack.
