The LZ20 is a budget camera and it could have more or less the same quality, yet it will probably cost 1/4 of the Pureview. The other will be much better of the pureview, and they will cost less. Don’t get me wrong, pureview is a great technology and you can get 8 mp images (remember that the 41 megapixels must be pixel-binned to get a decent output) with very good quality when compared to any other smartphone and low-end compact camera, yet it does not have the capabilities of a compact camera, it lacks a proper optical zoom and many other things. When compared to enthusiast-grade compacts or EVIL cameras, the quality might be similar, until you don’t have to push up the ISO or you don’t consider that you don’t have an optical zoom.
And when we consider its price, it costs as a full-fledged single lens reflex….

Why always compare to Pureview? Digicams are digicams, they serve a different purpose as compared to cameraphones, while it is true that Pureview has amazing image quality above many compact cameras around, one must put into mind that Pureview can’t do many functions common to these digicams.

Thanks for the news, Prasad. Now I think I will sell my ageing LX5. It’s f 2.3 at telephoto? Surprising. The LX5 is f 3.3 at that range. Hmmmm

LX7 has a f1.4-2.3 aperture, not
f1.2-2.3.
