Check out the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 hands-on video while we cook up the review

by 33 comments

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 leaked so many times prior to its announcement late last month, that it’s almost yesterday’s news.

Nevertheless, we’ve been busy putting it through our gauntlet of testing, and will give you a quick look at what’s in store for you from Samsung’s latest tablet offering.

The Note 8.0 is set to compete directly with Apple’s iPad mini, and is spec’d competitively enough to do just that. It offers a (you guessed it) 8-inch screen of 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, which results in 189 ppi. It has a quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and either 16 or 32 GB of internal storage. Read more »

Watch the 17 minute Battlefield 4 gameplay video here

by 37 comments

After a flurry of Battlefield 4 teaser videos, EA has finally dropped in the real deal. A lengthy 17 minute long gameplay video that showcases some of the finest visuals and sound I’ve seen in a game until now.

The video starts off with the now familiar in medias res format, where you see a scene and then it tracks back in the past to show you how you landed up there. You can’t tell much about the story, other than a bunch of soldiers trying to survive an attack who then later end up at the bottom of a lake inside a car. Read more »

by 112 comments

We’ve been enjoying the company of the Samsung Galaxy S4 for a while now and we finally managed to convince it to pose for a quick video for our camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is a really impressive device that manages to top just about every smartphone in the world where it counts. Compared to the HTC One it features a larger 1080p Super AMOLED display, a higher-res 13 MP camera of great quality, expandable storage, bigger battery, a higher-clocked Snapdragon 600 CPU (or the Exynos 5 Octa with 4 Cortex-A15 cores inside) and manages to pull it off in an body that’s actually smaller. Samsung Galaxy S4 battery life tests are done, here’s how it did

by 213 comments

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is about the same size and weight as the Galaxy S III, except that the new model is slightly thinner. Even so, the battery capacity has increased by 500mAh to a nicely sounding 2,600mAh total.

Still, that battery has to feed four Krait 300 cores and a bigger screen with over twice the number of pixels. Let’s see how the 2013 flagship from Samsung compares to the one from 2012. Before we continue, we should make it clear that we’re using the I9505 for this test, that’s the Snapdragon 600 chipset and not the Exynos 5 Octa. Read more »

Google has updated the mobile app for Android and iOS and introduced some new UI changes along with added features. One of the first major updates is the introduction of new image filters. Yes, Google+ now joins the ranks of countless social networking apps that let you add gaudy filters to your images before posting them.

The image filter option is thanks to the recent acquisition of photo editing application Snapseed. Although the editing options in the Google+ aren’t as comprehensive as in the Snapseed app there are a ton of filters for you to choose from.
