Samsung Galaxy S4 mini was announced a month after the Galaxy S4 flagship hit the shelves worldwide. The mini version is powered by a less capable dual-core Snapdragon 400 chipset but still runs on the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean skinned with Samsung’s own TouchWiz and promises the same solid smartphone experience as the flagship.

Nokia releases HERE Drive+ for non-Lumia devices, voice-guided navigation comes for a fee

If you’re of the small demographic who own Windows Phone 8 devices devices not made by Nokia (which is now under 20% of WP users), you’d be glad to hear that Nokia is making its HERE Drive+ navigation service available to all WP8 smartphone.

Until now, HERE Drive+ and its global, offline turn-by-turn navigation was exclusive to high-end Lumias, and one of the key advantages to owning a Lumia over other WP8 devices. Read more »

SanDisk announces Extreme Micro-SDXC, the world’s fastest memory card for mobiles

SanDisk has announced a new lineup of SanDisk Extreme Micro-SDXC cards. The Extreme will double the performance of the Ultra micro-SDXC cards, which was claiming to be the quickest in the world so far.

SanDisk Extreme Micro-SDXC will be available in 16 GB and 64 GB varieties. SanDisk has designed its latest cards to offer high speeds, while giving the durability a top priority. The newest addition from SanDisk will support read speeds of up to 80 MB/s and write speeds up to 50 MB/s. Read more »

Android security vulnerability has been fixed, patch sent out to OEMs

It was recently discovered that Android has had a major security hole since version 1.6, which allowed hackers to modify almost any Play Store app and turn it malicious without tripping the built-in security measures. Well, that hole has already been plugged and the fix has been sent out to OEMs (Google was made aware of the issue in February, so it has had time to fix it).

Google claims that it hasn’t seen any app from the Play Store (or other app stores for that matter) that have been affected by this vulnerability. Read more »

Nokia Windows RT tablet pictured, alleged full Windows 8 version on the way

What we may be seeing here is Nokia’s rumored Windows tablet, which has been doing the rounds in Rumorland for quite a long time now, but is yet to be officially confirmed.

The slate runs Windows RT nd not the full-blown Windows 8. However sources, allegedly close to the situation at Espoo, claim that Nokia may have given up on the RT version (pictured here) and will move its focus to delivering a slate with the full Windows experience. Read more »

Twitter updates apps to add DM sync, improved search

Anyone who uses Twitter regularly knows how annoying it is to receive a direct message (or DM, as they are commonly known) on one of your Twitter apps and read it, only to find it still being marked as unread on all the other apps. Thankfully, the latest update fixes this issue, at least on the official first party Twitter apps.

In a co-ordinated update to its iPhone, iPad, Android, OS X apps, as well as TweetDeck, Twitter Web and Twitter Mobile, Twitter now syncs your read DMs, which means reading them on one device automatically marks them as read on other official apps. Read more »

FIFA 13 makes its way to Windows Phone 8 as a Nokia Lumia exclusive

EA’s FIFA 13 has officially landed on Windows Phone 8. The member of the ultra-popular soccer gaming franchise is available in the Windows Phone marketplace exclusively for Nokia Lumia smartphones, priced at $4.99.

The Xbox Live enabled title unsurprisingly offers impressive graphics, coupled with responsive controls. Game content is well-covered too – there are 30 leagues, 500 licensed teams with 15,000 players, and 32 authentic stadiums to choose from, resulting in a hefty 951MB download. Read more »
