Seems like office alone isnt enough for a consumer to buy their tablet :) , whatever it is going to have , it wont beat iPad or kindle Fire , surface is just a failure attempt because they are crying for profits , where samsung and apple are wiping off the floor.

That's what I was asking, what innovation do you want? There's already everything. It's a time where people are now wondering what new to do, it will take time. In features and functionality Android is already ahead of iOS, and yeah, would be nice if they did something like Nokia and worked on camera technology or something. But they aren't, but at least there's not much missing. Also, all this 'put in more cores' is normal, hardware always gets ahead, can't stop it. It's just that the software can't catch up with.
Don't worry, fingers crossed for innovation to start happening soon.

If you want a social networking experience and good integration of those, then yeah, Windows Phone is the best. But otherwise the OS is too damn limited. I mean, use an instant messaging app to connect to FB + Google for chat, and it has to reconnect every time you go back in to the app. And Wi-Fi not allowed to be used when screen is turned off. Things like these make WP7.5 a very limited OS. Lets hope WP8 is better (though don't think its gonna allow apps like IM apps to stay open either, but one can only hope).

Unless we're takling the "other Surface", the x86 tablet. This is actually the only thing I'd buy. I know these kind already exist out in the wild but they're too bulky, have too short of a battery life and a main drawback - the price! The Surface might stir things up a bit, at least I'm hopng it will substancially reduce end prices.

Lol and how is that superior? Everything mentioned has a version on iPad, except better. And are all those tablet optimized or simply mobile phone version blown up? hahahahahaah man that's sad.

Allow me to challenge your list with one of my own.

Paper
Amplitube
GarageBand

Thank you for reaffirming my faith in iPad superiority ;) lol

Want a fast tablet?.Go create your own. Want more tablet apps? Then create and develop. People can‘t be contented with what they have. Just wait for later models to be released then you might find a product that will suit your needs..

I was impatient for a windows 8 tablet too till the tegra 3 surface price rumors about 600 euros, then I remembered Microsoft demanding parts for windows 8 devices and stoped expecting for a windows 8 tablet for less than 400 euros combined with the OS's price. After all there is no proffesional software ensured for arm but only some expectations.Nexus 7 is and will be the only valueable and lightest high performing tablet for for 2012 untill it's succesor because of Google . Also the faster it gets the better that the browser becomes.

really? cuz microsoft always delivered what they promised? I gone down that road before, and it is not pretty. WP7 was worst experience I ever had (so much worse than WM times), with virtually everything restricted and not delivering anything MS promised (Apple at least delivers). WP 7.5 did not make it any better. So Surface? A lot of OEM outcry and massive loss trying to be like Apple but failing, I don't see this as an alternative to iPad or any semi decent Android tablet. MS don't have attractiveness of Apple, and chances are they won't know anything about pricing either....and noticed how cheap Ultrabooks got lately? Cheaper than full version of Surface.
Everything MS tries for first time ends up in disaster (xbox, wp is recent example. I don't know where Bing has gone either :S)..and while they improve from such failures (vista to Win 7, xbox 360 for example), tablet is something MS has virtually no experience in.
Do yourself a favour and buy an iPad or Nexus 7 depending on your use and wait for new gen
