This is a product more appropriate for game developers who want to create games for hardware that will be released in the coming years. No smart developer who wants to make a lot of sales will gear their products toward something this exclusive. $1,000 is just an unreasonable cost for the average gamer to absorb.

More games does not mean better, and not all games on console are on pc, everybody has their preferences, emulator you say? sure only for older consoles, but for PS3 there’s no emulator for it and it’ll probably take years before a playable one is released. Uncharted and Gran turismo 5 on pc? keep dreaming.

Oh, don’t worry. They’ll think of ways to keep those cores busy. More demanding particle and fluid simulations, light scattering, more depth levels of reflections and refractions, multiplying texture sizes. Just to name a few quick ways to do that.

If everything else fails, just add add more pixels. Ultra HD displays are just around the corner anyway and something like double or triple 3840×2160 displays will give even this card a rough time.

Lost it at “more games”. Steam. The ultra frequent sales let you gather huge libraries of games a console gamer couldn’t even imagine. I know a few people (personally) that have more than 200 games bought in steam and spent less than what you’d spend on 50 PS3/X360 games in a retail store.

On topic: hooray, another object to fantasize about that I wish I could afford.

Yeah, compared to the 690 it seems a good price. But I would want to know what is the production price. ;)
But always, the less it costs the better.
