Oh and for 550$ will MeeGo port be as slow as the NIT project or even slower?
How about the battery, should we hope for two hours or less?
How about the closed source power management system, will you build one from scratch for the N900?

N900 = CLOSED SOURCE = DEAD

Yeah I did, and the fact that a cooked rom made by some dudes in a basement brought Flash 10.1 before nokia (which doesn't intend to provide it btw.) is further proof of nokia's lack of commitment.
Also dear d0rk if you have noticed the working GSM modem on NIT, that's done with code open sourced by samsung ;)

Just like Maemo, symbian 3 isn't the final product, hence it will not receive neither support nor updates.

I sold My N900 because it wasn't only boring but it had absolutley no support and Nokia didn't even want to move their a$$ to open source even the volume buttons and headset interfaces to allow us to better control that joke of a music layer they put on the device.

I can get over boring... but the sheer rudeness and lack of support for a 550$ device, that I can't take.

It's because of asskissers like you nokia will start to blow as much as apple.

You really don't understand anything do you????

That 1st e-mail took a little time because the phone had to download it from the server....only the header had been previously downloaded so as to save costs. Just look at that 2nd e-mail he opened (the one with HTML), it opened instantly because it had already been downloaded.

Then that search at the end wasn't a search within the phones contacts....It was actually searching through the Yahoo server for addresses relating to "D". Obviously that will take some time!

Virtually all s60v3 apps are compatible with s60v5. They all install and run. Some however cannot be controlled by touch screen but there are free apps to fix that.

S^3 is compatible with s60v5. Stated by nokia and confirmed by eldar at mobile-reviews so its not a matter of thinking but knowing. S^3 supports qt which i believe would be the base for apps on s^4 and meego. The advantages are too numerous for developers to resist.

The Duke nuken game is not java, and its compatible with s60v1, 2, 3 despite resolution variation. It must have been designed to support all three and thats what i was trying to point out. It even supports landscape mode on all platforms.

First of all S60V3 apps are not by far compatible with S60V5. Not one bit. The fact that now most apps are, is because of updates. Compatibility with symbian 3 is doubtful as I haven't seen anyone from Nokia stating this. However I did hear them say that N900 will never ever get meego and that drivers and various interfaces that are close sourced will remain that way.
What makes you think that IF 2 QT linux OSes aren't compatible app-wise what makes you think that S60V5 - S^3 - S^4 will be?

Same Nokia BS that happened with N900, they did neither confirm nor deny it will get Harmattan (that's MeeGo for you) untill the device had sold plenty. So now there's no compatibility maemo-meego whatsoever.

Then there's the "open" N900 which is not open at all. That's why it will never see MeeGo just like N8 will never see apps or symbian 4.

Nokia ( and the rest of the bunch) keep the source code for eg. Phone modem, power management, and even the volume buttons locked. There simply is no open source or open SGX drivers the same way there isn't a magical army of developers willing to invest time in researching reverse engineering and coding drivers and interfaces.

As for your duke nukem, you're full of $%^&. It's either java which is not a proper symbian app or it was ported. S60V2 are not to the slightest compatible with V3 or 5.

You are full of it, go join the iTards.

Thats a really dumb definition for a feature phone you've got yourself there. S^3 is open source so i expect n8 hardware to be compatible with other oss.

S^3 is not only compatible with s^4 and meego apps programmed with qt, but it is fully compatible with all s^1 apps. So one of a kind? Definitely not. I runs anything that runs on any other device with an 'n' as its initial.

Symbian as i know it doesn't suffer resolution compatibility issues as common on android. I once installed duke nuken on my 6630 years ago. Its had a screen res of 176x208 and ran s60v2. The exact same file installed on my n95 8gb with its 240x320 screen and s60v3. Apps for s60v3 run problem free on s60v3 despite that it generally has 640x360 resolution. Haven't tried games though but with qt, its all sure to work. You'r not a software developer so its normal if you can't comprehend how.
