i think you're forgetting the benefits of AMOLED screens over LCD, Samsung also use LCD screens, however AMOLEDs are able to turn off individual pixels, although they may not be ideal for web browsing due to the primarily white web pages... they excel in contrast ratio, aid video playback time and are becoming more power efficient, brighter and better for visibility under sunlight.
Nokia have the ClearBlack AMOLED which uses a filter to help improve visibility.
Samsung have the AMOLED closer to the glass to aid visibility in sunlight.
LG use now have the Nitro HD which has an AH-IPS LCD display which helps improve the viewing angles as does the iPhone 4 & 4s.
With the fact that HD displays are becoming commercialised in mobile phones, surely people would prefer a lager HD display over a higher pixel density. Furthermore Super Amoled Plus HD screens are more than inevitable in the future.

So In conclusion if you're gonna opt for an LCD display on a mobile phone, (assuming that's all you care about, ignoring OS's) the LG Nitro HD is a sure bet... If you want an AMOLED screen, there's plenty out there now and HD RGB AMOLED will more than likely arrive on mobile phones this year... look at the Galaxy Tab 7.7?

Also last I heard Apple had applied for three AMOLED patients, whether this is to monopolise the progression and development of AMOLED screen or if they plan to use them in their mobiles is yet unclear.

PS according to the article the Nokia 900 and Samsung Galaxy SII will both have the same pixel density on their AMOLEDs with RGB subpixels, which are also conventional for all modern LCD displays.

More like you wear Apple Love Goggles. Or maybe they find something like Carrier IQ which transmits a wave into your brains and wash them, cuz their is no reason why to pay twice as much for being unable to freely use a so called smart device...
