Nintendo 3DS specs revealed, hits Japan in February, Europe and USA in March

Nintendo 3DS specifications, release dates and price have been finally revealed. The new portable console will cost 250 euro in Japan and will be released on 26 February. Europe and USA launch will follow in March on a similar price.

Nintendo 3DS measures 130 x 74 mm and weighs 230 grams. It packs two screens – the top is a 3.53-inch LCD with 800×240 pixels resolution, while the bottom one is 3.02-inches QVGA.

3DS has two VGA cameras on the back (perhaps for stereoscopic imaging) and one on the front. There is also Wi-Fi connectivity, game cartridge slot, SD slot, AC adaptor connection and headphones jack. Stereo speakers, accelerometer and gyro sensor are also on board.

Nintendo DS cartridges are the same size as the 3DS ones and are compatible with the new console. The 3DS is powered by a Li-Ion battery as usual.

The 3DS is bundled with 2GB SD card, an AC adapter plus a charger stand, a 3DS touch pen and six augmented reality cards (whatever that is).

As I mentioned above, Nintendo 3DS will hit Japan first on 26 February and sometime in March – Europe and USA. The price should be around 250 euro (expensive, I know!).
