+10 man.

I truly wonder how long Microsoft plans to stick with their "in the box" desktop OS strategy and what for?Cutthroat box prices."Burn your own OS DVDs" sales policy on OEM machines.Are they that thick enough to piss off the user base for the long term in this perpetual battle?Google got Chrome out for a reason....

It's how normal users can adapt their normal usage to persuade them enough to change an OS.For example PDF files are fast gaining acceptance at the corporate level.People can just convert workable docs and spreadsheets into PDFs and lesser excuses are there for offices to keep avoiding OpenOffice or Google Docs.I wubi'ed a Linux Mint distro just weeks ago and dare I say it the load of FUD surrounding around typical Linux/Ubuntu or its derivatives' "clumsy" ease of use are much exaggerated.

I didn't have to right away fiddle around with sudo apt commands to install stuff on it and yes contrary to much misguided perception you CAN DO that "next,next and finish" click 'em all.XFCE based distros are fast (even faster than Win 7) on lower specced rigs and in this case a netbook should fit the category.And it's not like the fancier GNOME and KDE variants are that clunky either.I've seen that uber Compiz desktop ran flawlessly on a lowly Intel GMA driven rig.

Linux the OS are getting better every year and it's only a matter of time before people realize that right now the only thing that's saving Windows' bacon are the API we call DirectX.Smoke and mirror.The minute Linux can gain better acceptance from mainstream PC game devs watch the Redmond empire crumble brick by brick.It'll be faster the minute guys like AMD throws in the supportive hand by ways of driver supports.

Windows 7 ain't bad that much I'll give it due credits.But Microsoft can't play the same card forever.

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x86 btw if some of you are questioning my stance for this comment.

Yes, you are right generally...

But when microsoft releases new OS, it is so resource consuming that you have to buy new components...

Sometimes, even old processors have to be replaced. and that means sometimes the motherboards will be replaced too...

Guys, this is all a Collusion between hardware and software companies... They all want to sell their products..

XP required 233 MHZ Processor and 64 MB RAM... Can you believe this requirement sheet?

Win7 requires 1 GHZ (Triple Plus!!) and 1 GB RAM (16 times more!!!)... Are you kidding me Microsoft? Such a heavy OS!

We don't run the OS only. We run softwares on them, that require RAM and Processing power too.

My system is a laptop with 1600 MHZ and 512 MB RAM, and it runs all the stuff on XP---> Animation, 3D Designing, Photoshop, etc, etc... No problem, except for occasional slowing for which I'll increase RAM...

I know Win7 better utilizes 4 GB or more RAM... but slightly old machines would run many times better on a XP Platform.

Microsoft, do whatever you want to... I'll still use XP until I find big reasons to update...

I still believe that XP is the best, but with using SP3 of course. Since win7 is full of animation, compared to XP SP3, WinXP will still be faster than win7. Anyway, i'll miss 'em very much :{
