*x86, not x64. Its 64 bit, but x86 is the type of processor (Intel and AMD) not the bits.

Exactly. As a graduate architect … Imagine if I would be able to run Autodesk AutoCAD or REVIT on my Microsoft Surface Pro whilst onsite so I can make alterations to my drawings instantly instead of having to lug around my Laptop. It could be the best of both worlds. Even if its priced more than an the most expensive ipad … because it will do more than an ipad … its worth it. However as its Microsoft… it will need some sort of applecare equivalent system

If the surface pro comes with 4GB RAM and has a similar battery time to the Ipad then I believe it will be a winner, especially if its cheaper than the current ultrabook laptops. For once a company has used apple as a stepping stone, instead of trying to develop something different from scratch (which is why Nokia is in the doldrums).

thats exactly what i do with my laptop…plug in a mouse and a keyboard thats why i cant carry it around with a hanging keyboard and mouse.

There’s a touchpad on that touch and type cover.
And there’s also usb (3.0) port, you can easilly plug a usb mouse/mice there.
If you really need to play FPS game on a tablet that is.

Except that they have yet to announce battery life, and Surface has Touch/Type Cover that function as a conventional keyboard.

At least they could put a krait quad-core instead of the crappy Tegra 3 to justify such a price for the ARM one, and don’t forget that that price is for units with minimal memory and no 3g/LTE, so it’s equevilant to these 200$ to be sold by google in august!
