No surprise, Windows 8 is awesome! Fast, easy to setup, a lot support from drivers, apps, games, and all. I have been using Windows 7 for years, and now Windows 8. With MSE and regular Windows Updates, not a single virus could harm me so far.

Typing from Ubuntu because FOSS I'm using are not perform good in Windows. But for average users, I think Windows is a lot better and stable than Ubuntu.

I found (both in Win 7 and Win 8) the excel just by pressing start button on the keyboard, then typing "excel" then just hit enter (or select the appropriate program first if the result returning more than one item) :D
Start button on the desktop is kinda pointless anyway (I'm saying about start button, not the start menu). You can either hit start button on the keyboard or device (for tablet).

But it's true if you don't know or forgot the name of the apps though. This is what it lacks on start screen compared to start menu. But the app list is sorted alphabetically though so you still browse those apps as they are grouped alphabetically.

Performance is so much better than Vista and Update cost me nearly $20 (In My Country its INR-1999/-) , Its so cheap and I am very happy with update.

Removing the start-button was a fatal misstake, because the start-button-menu organised everything alfabetically with folders and subfolders, but the Metro-UI randomly places every program and subprogram on the startpage making it very hard, timeconsming, to find relevant subprogram that very often is installed together with the package of programs! On the start menu you could easily find World and Excel in the folder for Microsoft office, and the same thing was found for when otherprograms installed meny subprograms, they were all easily found in the same folder, but on the Metro-UI every subprogram is radomly placed anywhere on the start-screen/page! The classic desktop is unuseable/pointless without the start-button/menu!
