Microsoft gives 20GB free SkyDrive storage to its loyal WP users

It seems Christmas came early for some Windows Phone users. Microsoft is giving 20GB of extra SkyDrive storage for free to selected loyal customers.

As it turns out some WP-powered smartphone owners have received emails with instructions on how to get 20GB additional SkyDrive cloud storage for one year.

Currently Microsoft is offering 7GB of free SkyDrive storage to all subscribers. No invitations, likes, tweets required. You can buy more, of course, or you can get 20GB for free with some of Microsoft’s paid services such as the Office 365 subscription.

SkyDrive is available by default on every Windows Phone device and is capable of automatically uploading your photos in the cloud. The iOS-compatible SkyDrive app has received a massive update recently enabling the automatic upload on the iDevices as well.

There is no info on how the users are chosen though, so we can’t tell you for sure if you will be getting free cloud storage or not. But it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the email associated with your Live ID these days.
