1 GB is minimum memory in 2012, apps are becoming more and more feature rich, and features need memory and cpu cycles. Phones with 512 MB of ram are starting to struggle with the latest android OS and applications and the fact that we want to have more and more concurrent applications, for example google now that runs in background all the time.
I read so many posts of people saying “who needs 4 cores”, “who needs 2GB of ram”, “who needs 2 GHz” and so on. Well, the fact that YOU don’t need them beacuse you do a basic usage of the phone does not automatically apply to the rest of the world!
