Shoeman is correct. The A77 is a DSLT (translucent mirror) and not a mirrorless EVIL camera. So, it still must be approximately the size of a traditional DSLR (it could be shorter due to no need of the mirror retracting).

Nice but Sony Alphas still needs alot of catching up with nikon and canon in pixel/noise ratio, all their DSLR/SLD cameras have aggressive NR which is annoying. their compacts are always overshadowed by canon in handling of noise.

So awesome. But I have gone the pentax route so too much money spent on glass already to change.
By the way this is not mirrorless. It has a mirror but it is translucent to take advantage of faster focus but the mirror not needing to move when a photo is taken.
This means a fatser burst of photos if multiples are taken and more likely they will be in focus.
I tried one of the a33′s out before they were released and the only problem I found was the kit lens felt cheap and extremly plasticy which I was surprised about after trialing the NEX5 which the lenses just feel amazing.
I also found a problem with a bit of noise as the semi translucent mirror blocks a bit of light which I was advised the a55 does not. I would love to try the a77 and if I had the chance to swap my lenses for the same type of Sony lenses I would definatley look at getting one.

Bitrate is just as important as frame rate and frame size. No point in full HD (1080p) if the bitrate is low: watch that recorded video on your large HD TV and pause the video and enjoy all those ugly compression artifacts.

Have been waiting for this since a year. Was originally supposed to be released on 7/7 this year to go with the name A77, but because of some production issues this has been delayed to Aug this year.

Wonder if it’s true HD 1080 24p.

Sony claims a lot of their modes record full 1080 HD
Every time, i found out its just 1080i. If you think you can’t see the difference
between 1080 and 1080i, try panning shots. Faster the action, more combing effect.
