Considering that this thing obviously has a removable grip, this is most certainly the replacement for the aging 5D mark II.
Also, the extra joystick on the grip should mean that the clumsy auto focus system on the 5D mark II (which was not that much different from the original 5D) is finally upgraded.

This camera is fascinating — I think it’s interesting that they’ve pulled style cues more from the 7D than the 5D Mark II. As someone who owns a 7D and who finds all the controls super intuitive, I think that’s a good thing.
