Last comment from MediaHog is right: so what if you think it is a waste of time watching 1080p on a phone screen? With the correct cables, I just used my phone to play a 1080p movie on my 42″ LCD television. Having the ability to do that so easily from a phone makes this original post well worth my time.

Try hooking it up to a MicroVision ShowWX+ HDMI portable pocket projector and you will get a picture projected to a max size of 100 inch thats right 100 inch…The projector also has HDCP programmed so you can watch coded movies as well….The iPhone 4 is cool with a ShowWX + HDMI…..Try it you will not put it down….

The point is YOU DON’T HAVE TO CONVERT !! You just need copy the HD files to the iphone and play.. that’s the point. Not WHY I WANNA WATCH 1080p on 3.5″ Screen.

That depends. It’s not pointless. A downscaled 1080p video on a smaller screen without loss of pixels gives an incredibly sharp and beautiful image. My goal is to have a media library where I can have 1080p videos on my iTunes viewable for TV and at the same time be able to transfer it to my phone without having to convert the video itself. I’m a quality freak xD. For music videos I prefer to have to have it in 1080p resolution, as for movies however, i can agree that having an 1080p can consume a lot of memory. For movies I prefer 720p.

I have an 1080p video running just fine on my iPhone 4, Even though the iPhone 4′s resolution is smaller, the video itself does not lose any pixels which results a video display that’s incredibly sharp. But in the end it all comes down yourself and how you wanna watch your media. Personal preferences.
