thing with the iphone video playback superiority is that the iphone is very much optimized for the formats it can play (but usually files have to be converted before playing them), imo if you do not test the same video files on every phone then you have a biased review, but the problem is there is no cross platform app to do this, so the next best thing is to take a video file and use the best third party player to play it and then measure it, this ensures that the phone with the best playback time (without any sort of file conversion) wins.

just my 2 cents.

no disrespect.

"However we did some heavy photo browsing with the iPhone 4 and we did some more gaming than usual"

The basis of fact at which this article makes it's examples is ridiculous, like posted before me, unless you do the same things with each phone there is no way to accurately determine what phone has the best battery life. Android & runs completely differently than iOS as the iPhone stops apps from running in the background and Android does not, there is no mention on what widgest were used or whether you ran a taskkiller to stop any running apps or services. You then state that you did some "heavy photo browsing & gaming" as if that would be an accurate way to make up for not performing the same tests as the N* & GS.

This article does indeed seem a bit biased in the sense that the author/tester was hoping for the iPhone to do better and was more than happy to brag the higher battery time. In reality your "test" as it were is no where near being accurate in any way, nothing wrong with it being unscientific but should you continue to perform these tests in such an uneven and biased way you will only lower your credibility and the perception of your readers here

Another pointless battery test. You will not get accurate comparison between phones unless you somehow standardize the test to be exactly the same for every phone. Samsung Galaxy S or Nokia N8 for example have a lot of widgets running all the time when iPhone 4 has none. N8 could have apps running on the background while iPhone could not since it pauses them, while N8 does not.

We don't know if the web sites visited, music listened, videos watched, voice calls made, games played and photos taken and watched were all the same on all the phones. If they were not, the tests are pointless. You cannot make proper comparison, since the power requirements would be totally different for each phone.

just tried a video test on the iphone4.

downloaded the free friends TV show available on iTunes. That lasts about 25 minutes.

I played this in a continuous loop,
phone connected to 3G all the time , good signal all the time.
push ON for beejive and Skype only.
push email on for exchange server for gmail.
imap mail fetch every hour.
screen brightness 50%. no auto brightness.
bluetooth off. autolock off.
volume is almost zero.
Total data transfer during the test was about 3.2 MB.

the battery lasted about 8hrs and 15 min before it called quits.
Its still a good battery, but I cant imagine it to be anywhere close to 10 though, unless some conditions are different ( like no PUSH at all )
