In my opinion, the biggest issue with Android lies in the concept of running apps (everything) in a VM. Now, while this is a great approach towards hardware compatibility, when running larger apps, this Dalvik VM takes it toll. So, in order to view a 180 pages PDF file, the device CPU is pumped up for several seconds. That produces heat and eats power. Another drawback is the paging of the UI. Personally, I think rendering each UI element on a separate page and drawing it each time it needs to be displayed (on the same thread) is not the best option when multitasking. Also, Android doesn't seem very efficient with dual channel memory controllers.

WRONG form factor. Frame is far to wide - to easy hold in one hand. Form factor should be same as Galaxy Note, even if it came to the cost of being a few millimeters thicker.

Remember the Galaxy Tab 7.7? It could pick phone calls too, and tall people with big hands likely felt comfortable with that device size. I personally know of a friend who didn't want to return to a phone with a screen size any smaller after using the Tab 7.7. :)

This Galaxy Note 8 is likely the successor to the Tab 7.7.
