“What’s worse is that Windows Phone’s restrictive multitasking mechanisms are meant to keep battery usage to an absolute minimum” This is a bad thing? Windows phone has a very smart multitasking solution, Why is windows phone the only OS that has actually made good use of PUSH? Chat apps do not need to run in the background to listen for a new message when that message can be pushed to wake the app up.

So far I’m satisfied with Windows 8 power management. My Android phone bearly got through a day without charging. With roughly the same usage pattern, I recently maxed out at 68hrs without turning off LTE, GPS, or normal lighting. My average 100% to 0% is 38hrs.

I just got an 8x and so far the battery is looking moderately better than described here.

The tests for these phone should include testing with the
Bluetooth radio enabled, as I ended up taking back my HTC 8X due to poor
battery life with the Bluetooth radio enabled. For me, it was a brick in about
6-8 hours with < 1 hour of actual use. If the Bluetooth radio was off, it
worked reasonably well. In fact, I really liked the phone and Windows 8 but I
could not justify the cost without having at least 12-14 hours of standby time
with BT enabled.

Ativ S 2300mAh = 4.8″ HD Super AMOLED Display which sucks more battery
Lumia 920 2000mAh= 4.5″ TFT LCD Pure Motion HD+ (more sensitive screen= more battery)
WP8X 1800mAh = 4.3″ HD Super LCD 2.

Whats so much worse. Before you scream for battery, just look at the specs also.

The problem with Android is that it starts to lag after 2 months of usage. That is why I’m upgrading from my Galaxy Nexus to the 8X.

I hope it’s a WP8 issue, after all WP8.1 could fix it, while if it’s hardware they won’t be able to fix.
