I understand your point here, it is very difficult to hear the difference between 256 and 320 when played through headphones, and a good equalizer can make a massive difference to sound reproduction. However (and i know nothing about programming or anything like that) i think Beats audio is something more than this. I have a fairly well specced sound system in my car and i only listen to music played through my phone (via 3.5mm jack – phono lead) and i can definately tell the difference between beats audio and a well set up equaliser (or other sound enhancement, srs for example). The soundstage is much deeper, with more definition for each instrument or effect. It immerses you in the sound much more than a few tweeks to an equalizer can!!
