Average price in Amazon is high, but that's okay, we know it's imposition of publishers and over time that average should lower.
In the case of Play Store ... is ridiculous and absurd. A digital book cost more than a physical volume? In a market that highly values the print edition, with great ceticism and antipathy toward digital readers? It's laughable, not even want to see the price of the movies, and who will want them having Netflix as cheaper (and better) alternative? Google has not hit one these days, amazing.

import tax (imposto de importação) for private persons for a good over 50 US$ (including freight!!!) by air mail is 60% on the price + freight. so the 144 US$ are cheaper than the import price.

as this tablet comes from china i think amazon is doing the import. that is why it's cheaper. the tax should be around 20% and on top of this you got other taxes like the IPI and so on. makes it a bit cheeper for clients here.

for us brazilian clients it sucks. avarege income in brazil is so low and cities like são paulo or rio are as expencive like paris or london. but brazil is protecting it's market against foreign products and a underrated US$/RMB/Euro. in my opinion it would be better to send this socialist goverment to hell.

greetings from são paulo, brazil

I really don't understand the non-unified price policy of international online stores like Amazon - the Kindle costs $89 un the US but then the same Kindle is $144 in Brazil. Why not purchase it in the US online store with international shipping then? I doubt tax is adding this 50% to the mix.
The same goes for Google, their Nexus line is dirt cheap in the US, in Europe on the other hand, every device's price tag swells by around $100 (30% more for the WiFi 16 GB Nexus 7 to be exact). 10% more than the US retail price should be enough of a difference to cover all cost of import, tax and distribution. Google and Amazon, please make this happen for Europe.
