Gmail gets a couple of hot new features – translation and mute

Gmail Labs released two new features to the popular mail client – Automatic Message Translation and Smart Mute. It also tweaked the Gmail titles to highlight the number of unread messages.

The most important addition is Auto Translate – it basically incorporates Google’s translate feature into your email, which is something many have demanded for a long time now.

Smart Mute on the other hand lets you mute threads that don’t interest you anymore. Muting them is like unfollowing the thread – your inbox will no longer be filled with replies you don’t care for.

Title Tweaks is a cosmetic improvement, but a significant one nonetheless – the tab description will now read “Inbox (7)…” instead of “Gmail – Inbox (7)”.
