LG marks a strong comeback to the tablet market with the G Pad 8.3 and showcased it in full at the IFA 2013 show, albeit being mum regarding availability and pricing.

Microsoft’s first Surface tablet proved to be a rather expensive failure, but the Redmond company is undeterred and is rumored to be working on three new Surface tablets – Surface 2 (supposedly an RT successor), Surface Pro 2 and Surface Mini.

Little is known about the new Windows RT-running Surface 2, but the Surface Pro 2 will reportedly look pretty much the same as the current generation, just with a “refined” kickstand. Read more »

Along with the Vibe X smartphone, Lenovo also announced the 7″ S5000 tablet. The tablet shares the Vibe’s sleek design and while it’s not as thin as the smartphone (the S5000 is still pretty thin at 7.9mm), it’s very light for a 7″ tablet, tipping the scales at just 246g.

The tablet features 3G HSPA+ connectivity with voice call support (in select countries, the US isn’t getting it). There will also be a Wi-Fi only version. Read more »

XOLO has announced the company’s first Android tablet, the XOLO Tab. The XOLO Tab comes with an 8.0-inch, 1024×768 resolution IPS display.

On the inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8225Q SoC with a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A5 CPU and Adreno 203 GPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory with microSD card slot, 3G connectivity, 4,000mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Samsung announced yesterday the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition – its latest attempt to occupy your living room by providing a one-stop entertainment and media consumption tablet device. We’ve decided to pit it against Apple’s and Sony’s best in a virtual Mexican stand off so we can gauge what amount of novelty does the newcomer bring to the (living room) table.

Samsung has long learned the cold hard truth that a 10.1″ tablet must be able to do pretty much everything you throw at it, and thus the Note series of slates was born. Sony agrees with this as well, but doesn’t bet as much on the software chips as it does on the hardware ones. Its Xperia Tablet Z offering is both ultra thin and waterproof, the second one being a true rarity in the tablet space.

Apple, as a pioneer in the mass consumer tablet space, is pretty comfortable with its 4th generation iPad. The company is expected to unveil the next-generation iPad in October, so for now we’ll take what it offers and throw it in the mix. Read more »

We all know that Nvidia is working on a Tegra 4 powered tablet and as a matter of fact we even had a glimpse of the slate, courtesy of a leaked image. Now, we have more images of the tablet and this time, the leak shows us the complete design of the slate.

ASUS has announced a slew of new notebooks at IFA 2013. We already saw the Zenbook UX301 and now there are two more. One of them is the Transformer Book T300, which is an updated version of the Transformer Pad TX300 launched earlier this year. The major update here is a switch to a more modern fourth generation Intel Haswell processor. The RAM and storage have also been doubled and now stands at 8GB and 256GB respectively.

Other than that it is mostly the same 13-inch tablet/notebook hybrid as before. You can simply un-dock the display from the keyboard and use it as a 13-inch Windows 8 tablet or dock it in and it turns into a full-fledged notebook. Read more »

Acer has decided not to wait until IFA officially kicks off and has announced its Iconia A3 10″ tablet in both Wi-Fi and 3G versions.

The slate is running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU. The 10″ display is of IPS variety and features a modest 1280 x 800 pixel resolution resulting in a pixel density of 149ppi. Read more »

Despite we haven’t heard from ASUS as much as some other manufacturers recently, the Taiwan company is going to be on the IFA showfloors and is preparing a surprise on its own.

ASUS posted on its Facebook page a teaser for seemingly a 10″ Android tablet, which simply says “We transform your mobility.” Wonder what that could be all about. Read more »

We’ve already heard twice that Samsung is working on a 12.2″ tablet. Back in June the Korean site ETNews revealed that such device is on the way. Then in July the popular tipster evleaks tweeted about a Samsung SM-P900 12.2-inch slate running on Exynos 5 Octa chipset and having a 2560 x 1600 pixel screen.

Today we get to see the first render of this SM-P900 tablet, which is supposed to be dubbed Galaxy Note 12.2. Read more »

LG has taken the wraps off their brand new Android tablet – the LG G Pad 8.3. The G Pad 8.3 has a 1920×1200 resolution display, which LG claims makes it the first 8-inch tablet with a Full HD display.

Other features on the G Pad 8.3 include a Snapdragon 600 chipset with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz and Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM and 16GB internal storage space. Read more »

Hawaiian Airlines will start using iPad minis as an alternative to (and eventual replacement of) its existing in-flight entertainment system on all of the company’s Boeing 767-300 planes.

The company plans to roll the portable Apple tablets starting September 1 and plans to deploy 1,500 iPad minis to 14 airplanes, which serve 14 routes between the US and Hawaii. This makes Hawaiian Airlines the first US airline company to deploy Apple tablets on board. Read more »

Sony is now seeding the Android 4.2.2 update for the Wi-Fi only model of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The LTE version of is already running on this firmware since the beginning of August.

The update brings lots of changes – it replaces the Tablet UI with Phone UI, and brings multi-user support, 64GB microSD card support, notification bar and new widgets. Read more »

The budget nature of the Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue calls for much corner cutting but when it comes to the battery backup, the Chinese have done pretty well. The 7 incher is packing a potent 4100mAh Li-Po battery that promises to go great distances.

However, the Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue packs a rather outdated quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU, which isn’t exactly known for its power-efficiency. We were quite interested to find out how those two balance out. Read more »
