LG G Pad 8.3 could cost as little as $299 according to Chinese sources

The LG G Pad 8.3 is a FullHD slate by LG with reasonable specs, which we saw and liked at IFA 2013.

We’ve been in the loop of its availability and know it will hit at least 30 countries by the end of the year but we haven’t heard a whisper about its pricing. Well, sources coming from China indicate a price tag of $299, which would position the 8.3″ slate as a serious contender to something like the Google Nexus 7 (2013). Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and 10.1 will support multi-user functionality in the nearest future

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and 10.1 comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board, but unfortunately, both the slates does not come with all the goodies of the 4.2 version. It looks like Samsung omitted the multi-user capabilities for both the tablets in its final software.

Next generation Kindle Fire press image gets leaked

Amazon seems to be close to announcing the next generation models of their Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD tablets as the leaks and rumors are slowly gathering steam. We have heard a few things about the Kindle Fire HD in the past, including some leaked benchmark scores that pointed towards a Snapdragon 800 SoC and 2560×1600 resolution display.

Now, evleaks has leaked a new press image of what looks like the standard Kindle Fire model. The design is slightly changed compared to the current model, mostly with respect to the bezel around the display. The current model has thinner bezels along the top and sides of the display and thicker one at the bottom when held in portrait mode. The new one has equally thick bezels surrounding the display. Nokia’s Windows RT tablet revealed in new leaked image

We have been seeing bits and pieces of Nokia’s alleged Windows RT tablet for a while now. Windows expert Paul Thurott now has what looks like a press image of this unnamed Nokia tablet that is scheduled to be announced later this month.

The Nokia tablet will have a 10-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 6.7 megapixel camera and a $499 price tag. As mentioned before, this tablet will be running on Windows RT and not the full blown Windows 8, which is a cause for concern. Read more »

Tablet shipments will surpass PC shipments in Q4 this year according to IDC

Tablet shipments are set to surpass their PC counterparts in the last quarter of this year according to IDC. PC shipments will still be greater than the tablet ones for the year, though the future belongs to the slate army according to International Data Corporation.

According to IDC, tablet shipments will surpass total PC shipments on annual basis by the end of 2015 (PC shipments include desktop and portables combined). Read more »

Intel’s new Bay Trail chipset promises Cortex-A15/Krait 400 levels of performance, lower power usage

Intel has been trying to get into the mobile business and has had moderate success so far, but with the new Bay Trail chipset the chip giant may have finally done it. Bay Trail chips will use the new Silvermont CPU cores and Intel’s own GPUs like the ones used in Haswell processors.

Bay Trail will be under the Atom brand for tablets (Z3600 for dual-core CPUs, Z3700 for quad-core) and Celeron and Pentium for laptops (N2000 and N3000 respectively) and desktops (J1000 and J2000). Read more »

ASUS launches Bay Trail powered Transformer Book T100, wants $349 for it

Yesterday at the ASUS IDF press conference CEO Jerry Shen announced the company’s first tablet to run on Intel’s Bay Trail platform. It is called the ASUS Transformer Book T100 and is an entry-level 10.1″ tablet running the Windows 8.1 operating system.

The 10.1″ display is of the IPS variety and has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which is rather mediocre for a display of such size . Read more »

Intel shows off the working of next generation 14nm SoC

Intel has officially announced its newest SoC, which is the world’s first chipset built on 14nm architecture. At the on-going Intel Developer Forum 2013 event in San Franciso, Intel’s CEO Brain Krzanich showed a functioning laptop that was running on the 14nm Intel SoC.

Google quietly began offering the LTE capable 2013 ASUS Nexus 7 in the US Play Store. The 4G ready tablet is priced at $349 for a 32GB slate with a T-Mobile SIM and 2GB of data for one month.
