The teardown reveals that the Kindle Fire HDX is certainly not an easy to repair device. The only good news is that you can open the tablet without having to use the heat guns by unscrewing and removing the clips of the tablet. Read more »

Leaked Apple iPad 5 photo confirms TouchID home button

Earlier this month it was discovered that the TouchID fingerprint home button of the iPhone 5s fits perfectly into the leaked front cases of the yet unofficial iPad 5. Now, thanks to a leaked photo, the TouchID sensor on the iPad 5 is everything but confirmed.

Naturally, the fingerprint sensor will work the same way as it does on the iPhone 5s, but hopefully Apple has worked out more and better ways for the TouchID feature to be encompassed into the OS. Read more »

LG details the UK and Ireland availability of G Pad 8.3

LG Mobile announced today the UK availability for the G Pad 8.3. The slate will be offered exclusively via the IT distributor Micro P and will be released at the end of October for £259.99.

Harvey Norman is the exclusive LG distributor for the G Pad 8.3 on the Irish market. The tablet will be hitting the shelves in Ireland by the end of October as well. Read more »

The upcoming Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet made yet another unscheduled appearance, thanks to @evleaks. After allowing us to potentially catch a glimpse of its kickstand three days ago, the slate leaked out in a press image, dressed in a cyan outfit.

Tablet-friendly Twitter app for Android debuts on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)

Twitter announced the official availability of a tablet-optimized app for Android. The highly-anticipated app will be exclusively available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) for the time being. It will make it to other tablets by the end of the year.

New Apple iPad 5 leaks in high-res photos

The next generation iPad 5 is expected to be unveiled at an Apple event on October 22. Before then, however, a slew of new images have leaked showing off the upcoming tablet in full detail.

Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet to have a kickstand and 1080p screen?

A new photo of the Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet indicates that the rumored tablet will follow in the footsteps of the Microsoft Surface tablet and have a kickstand on its back. The image is low quality and doesn’t even show the whole tablet, so trust it at your own risk.

The Lumia 2520 has leaked before – an alleged photo of the Verizon-branded version didn’t show any trace of a kickstand, while the FCC diagrams revealed almost nothing but the beveled edges. Read more »

LG G Pad 8.3 hits the shelves in Korea, Europe coming next

LG has just launched the LG G Pad 8.3 in Korea. The slate was unveiled at IFA in Berlin last month and LG has promised to launch it globally before the year ends.

LG G Pad 8.3 packs an 8.3″ display with 1920×1200 pixel resolution and runs on the Snapdragon 600 chipset (quad-core 1.7GHz Krait 300, Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB RAM). The internal storage is 16 GB, but expansion is available thanks to the microSD slot. Read more »

Archos refreshes its Platinum lineup with a trio of Android tablets

After launching the Platinum line in the beginning of this year, Archos pulled the cover of three new members with updated internals. The ARCHOS 97b Platinum HD, ARCHOS 101 Platinum and ARCHOS 80b Platinum aid to take on the established players on the market by sporting a lower price tag to go with premium looks.

Fujitsu Arrow Tab FJT21 with multi-user fingerprint reader goes official

Fujitsu has officially announced its latest Arrow Tab, the FJT21. The newest member of the Android tablet club packs a punch with its powerful hardware and is probably the first tablet to feature a fingerprint scanner.

The Fujitsu FJT21 sports a LCD display of 10.1-inch 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution that is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Read more »

Dell announces Android and Windows based Venue tablets

Dell recently revived the ill-fated Venue brand for their tablets. Today, the company has launched four new tablets under the Venue brand, two of which run Android and the other two Windows 8.

The Android based Venue 7 and Venue 8 are basic budget tablets, with each having a 1280×800 resolution IPS LCD and Intel Atom Z2580 SoC with 2GHz dual-core CPU. The Venue 7 will have 16GB internal memory and the Venue 8 (pictured above) will have a choice between 16 and 32, with both models having a microSD card slot. Read more »

Apple allegedly won’t be widely rolling out iPad Mini’s with Retina displays this year

Sources close to Apple’s supply chain of its iPad tablet department claim that a large-scale rollout of the anticipated iPad Mini with retina display won’t be taking place this year, if at all.

With manufacturing just starting, it’s likely that only limited quantities of the iPad Mini with retina display will be available for this holiday season. Read more »

Nokia Lumia 2520 (RX-114) Windows 8 tablet passes FCC certification

The Nokia tablet just got a little closer to reality as the FCC posted a SAR report for the RX-114 made by Nokia. RX-114 is the a name we’ve heard before – a Windows RT tablet powered by Snapdragon 800 – but the device seems to prefer being called Lumia 2520 these days.

The FCC documents are pretty scarce in terms of imagery (the interesting bit is the image above) but they do give out cell connectivity info. Read more »
