Samsung now mass producing 3GB RAM for smartphones, Galaxy Note III to get first dibs

Samsung announced that it has started mass production of 3GB RAM chips for mobile phones, after testing in late April. The chips are based on the LPDDR3 standard and are built on a 20nm process. The new chips offer better overall performance for future smartphones – potentially coming to the Galaxy Note III first.

The Note III is rumored to launch with 3GB RAM and should be unveiled in early September at IFA, so starting manufacturing of the new RAM chips now seems to be just in time. Young-Hyun Jun, executive VP at Samsung Electronics, said that the first devices with this RAM will be used in the second half of this year. Read more »

Second generation Google Nexus 7 leaks out in a press photo

The highly anticipated second generation of the Google Nexus 7 made a couple of unofficial appearances. The upcoming ASUS-made slate showed up in a press photo, as well as a BestBuy print catalogue.

Both alleged images of the upcoming Nexus 7 fall right in line with previous leaks. The BestBuy ad points at a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It also confirms the $229 price tag for the 16GB version of the slate. Read more »

The alleged images of next-generation affordable tablet from Google have already been leaked and we even saw a video of the upcoming Nexus 7. Now, the specifications of the second-gen of the slate have been revealed in a new leak.

As expected, the second-generation Nexus 7 will sport a 7-inch FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and will feature a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera. Purported second generation Nexus 7 leaks out in photos and video

Hot on the heels of the pricing details from yesterday, the second generation Nexus 7 made yet another appearance. This time around the highly anticipated tablet allegedly showed up in photos and video footage.

The images unsurprisingly reveal an ASUS-made tablet with a 7″ LCD display and a duo of cameras which include a 1.2MP and a 5MP unit, located on its front and back respectively. The listed SoC of the leaked device is reportedly a Qualcomm’s APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro – right in line with past reports. Read more »

Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note III benchmark surfaces

The third-generation Samsung Galaxy Note phablet will be one of the hottest devices of the Fall and naturally it is getting its fair share of leaks and rumors. Now, an alleged benchmark result of the Samsung Galaxy Note III (what seems to be coming from a Hong Kong variant) has surfaced.

The battery pack for the Nokia Lumia 1020 (codenamed EOS) has leaked again, this time with more photos that offer a much better look at the accessory. By the looks of it, the battery pack won’t add a lot of thickness – the 1,020mAh battery seems to be contained in the grip.

What we may be seeing here is Nokia’s rumored Windows tablet, which has been doing the rounds in Rumorland for quite a long time now, but is yet to be officially confirmed.

Leaked battery pack for Nokia Lumia 1020 adds 1020mAh, tripod mount and better grip

The Nokia Lumia 1020 / 909 / EOS (there are competing reports of what it will actually be the final name) will launch on July 11 and go on sale as soon as August (or even this month) and now we’re even starting to see accessory leaks.

The first to leak is a battery pack that adds another 1,020mAh of juice, an extra 35% according to Izestia.ru. That would put the Lumia 1020 battery at around 2,900mAh as well as provide a very comfortable grip that will improve the EOS handling as a camera. Read more »
