Google Maps’ navigation application is constantly improving, and the latest update has made it that much better with real-time route updates.

A few days ago, Facebook announced their new mobile app called Paper. Paper combines your regular Facebook feed along with news from different sources in a radical new design that is a complete departure from anything Facebook has ever made. The app is now available for download for free on the iPhone in the US.

Paper is that new Facebook app that you always wanted but it does more than just give you a new design. The developers have found a way to also incorporate news from different sources, similar to the Flipboard app. You can add categories you want to get posts from and you’ll get a curated list of content that fits the bill. Click on a post you want to read and it flips open like a newspaper. If you just want to go through your Facebook feed, you can do that as well. Read more »

The Evernote’s beta app for Android has gained handwriting support and now lets you scribble down notes or just doodle around, saving everything as is – not transforming your handwriting into neat text like on the Galaxy Note 3 for example.

Few days ago we talked about the SwiftKey Note app for iOS, which was leaked on Twitter. Now the app has been officially unveiled and is available for download for free on the iPhone and iPad.

SwiftKey Note is a simple note-taking app for your iOS device. But where it differs from other note-taking app is that it has its own custom keyboard, that uses the same algorithm as the SwiftKey keyboard on Android. Facebook unveiled its own news delivering app called Paper. It’s a minimalist app that’s heavy on eye candy and is mostly swipe-operated. It’s also quite immersive by bringing a full-screen clutter-free interface.

Instead of bringing you your news feed the app will let you chose from a list of curated genres – photography, design, sports, food and science. Big names in said categories will get their fair share of showing off but Facebook also promises to shine a light on emerging voices, letting you subscribe to their feeds as well. Read more »

SamMobile has been able to gain access to a new app that Samsung intends to launch with the Galaxy S5. Dubbed Life Times, it’s sort of a personal diary app, which collects information from a list of apps in order to create a comprehensive log.

Life Times automatically gathers information from the list of apps (Camera, Email, Location, Memo, Messages, Music, phone and S Health as well as a list of social networks), which makes it similar to Samsung’s Story Album app. This begs the question if Life Times is destined to replace it or not. Nintendo has announced that they will be making an app for smartphones. Although far from releasing its games on the mobile platform like everyone wants, this app will at least let you access the Nintendo store from your mobile device.

The Nintendo smartphone app should be similar to the PlayStation and Steam mobile apps, where in it will let log into to your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) and let you purchase games and other content for your Nintendo consoles and access certain other features as well. Read more »

Viber has brought the Sticker Market feature to the Windows Phone 8 version of its instant messenger. Available in the latest update of the app, this is Viber’s first attempt at generating revenue with its services.

On top of that, the update brings enhanced notifications, which the company says are now smarter. Viber users also have more options to customize their statuses. Read more »

NVIDIA TegraZone got treated to a major update which expanded its availability to non-Tegra devices. Version 2.9.0 of the app is currently available to download in the Google Play Store for all devices running Android 2.2 and up.

It must be pointed that the updated app does not make Tegra-enhanced game playable to non-NVIDIA devices. Read more »

Microsoft is done with 8.1 for its mainline OS (both x86 and RT), now we’re waiting for 8.1 to hits the phone platform. While we wait, we get the occasional leak to give us a better idea on what to expect – like on-screen buttons, a file manager and now redesigned HERE Maps and Games Hub.

Microsoft is big on uniformity with their Windows Phone brand: you’re not going to see any skinned versions of their quickly rising mobile platform anytime soon. As a result, manufacturers also face some hardware restrictions. Maximum screen resolution and maximum processor speed caps are part of the territory.

The GDR3 update rollout isn’t going particularly quickly though and several months after its release only 15% of the Windows Phones surveyed in Q4 2013, are carrying it. Read more »

Nokia’s Android prototype codenamed Normandy has leaked numerous times before in live pictures, official renders, detailed specs and more. We pretty much know everything there is to know about the Normandy but one – will it ever go official.

One of the recent leaks gave us a glimpse of Nokia’s proprietary Android launcher. The guys over TechRadar made a concept video of the interface based on those leaked screenshots. It looks really nice and is definitely a breath of fresh air among the competition. The Metro-like parts of the UI may not be everybody’s cup of tea though. Read more »
