Intel and Unity announce collaboration to bring Android support to x86 devices

Intel and Unity Technologies announced strategic collaboration to extend Andorid support for the chipmaker’s devices. Unity will add Android support for Intel’s current and future x86 chips, including the Core and Atom families.

USB Type-C plug features reversible design, 10Gbps speeds

The USB Type-C standard is finalized and one of the coolest features it brings to the table is universal plugging. This means that much like Apple’s Lightning connector, it doesn’t matter which way you plug the cable, it’ll always fit and work.

Premium life – iPhones to work as room keys in Hilton

Starting next year Hilton will allow iPhone users to use their phones as hotel room keys. That means that you’ll be able to bypass the front desk of the hotel completely.

Currently as is iPhone users do have the Hilton app but upon walking into a hotel they’d still need to get a physical key with the app handling online check-in, reservations and such – Android users have the same deal going on but there’s no word on using your droid to unlock Hilton doors, although it should happen as well. Samsung: Galaxy Tab S 8.4 doesn’t overheat, faulty back panel to blame

Last week a couple of pictures surfaced showing a deformed back panel on an apparently overheating Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

According to the information received by early adopters the slate would get so hot that it would cause its thin plastic back panel to bend at certain spots. The new MediaTek chipsets can slow down time 16x with 480fps video capture

MediaTek unveiled a new 64-bit octa-core chipset and almost lost among the many features on its specs sheet is Super-Slow Motion. The feature can capture 1080p at a brisk 480fps framerate – for comparison current flagship smartphones usually top out at 720p @ 120fps.

With 480fps video the camera can slow the action down to 1/16s of real time. Read more »
