Apple just announced the next generation Macbook Pro. The notebook boasts a 15.4″ Retina Display and cutting edge hardware, tucked in a body, which is 1.8cm thin (0.71 inches) and weighs only 2kg (4.46 pounds).

Naturally, the Retina Display of the newcomer is the biggest attention grabber. The screen sports the mesmerizing resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels, which adds up to a pixel density of 220ppi, and a total of 5,184,000 pixels. Read more »

Apple WWDC is off to a good start and among the first announcements in the event’s keynote speech is the refresh of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineups. Both lineups are getting the latest IvyBridge processors by Intel. And yes, the 17-inch MacBook Pro is getting axed off the production line.

The MacBook Airs now can be rigged with processors up to 2.0Ghz dual-core i7 (with Turbo boost up to 3.2Ghz). The RAM options go as high as 8GB and the SSD options reach the spectacular 500GB. All signs point at a launch of the updated Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 in the nearest future, people. An updated version of the slate got handled on YouTube, showcasing a number of serious improvements, compared to the Note 10.1, which we encountered back in April.

Samsung has unveiled the multimedia-centric Series 5 Boost laptop for Korea and updated its Series 9, 5 and 3 ultrabooks with low-power Ivy Bridge processors.

The Series 5 Boost will come in 15″ and 17″ flavors, with a bright (300 nit) 1600 x 900 resolution display, JBL stereo speakers and either a Core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor. Read more »

Asus just made quite a few announcements at the eve of Computex – the TAICHI dual-screen notebook series, the Transformer Book lineup with detachable screens, two Transformer-like tablets, and the all-in-one PC Transformer AiO.

Computex will officially starting tomorrow on June 5 but Acer has already kicked things off with a whole slew of Windows 8 based products.

First of all are the two Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabooks. Available in two sizes, 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch, these are the thinnest and smallest, respectively, Full HD touch Ultrabooks in the world. Both models feature an aluminum unibody design but the 13.3-inch model also uses a glass top. LG has announced the new X Note Z350 Ultrabook with a 13.3-inch display, which is the successor to the older Z330 model. It is based on Intel’s third generation Core i-series platform (Ivy Bridge) and boasts of a boot up time of only nine seconds.

Another feather in its sleek silver body is a Red Dot Design Award, even though it does sort of look like every other Ultrabook we have seen recently. LG also claims that it is the thinnest Ultrabook in the world, with a thickness of just 14.7mm. And at 1.2kg, it’s also very light. Read more »

Chrome OS fans rejoice today as Samsung has launched its second generation Chromebooks as well as the first ever Series 3 Chromebox.

The refreshed notebook line-up also marks the rollout of a major update of the Chrome OS, which features enhanced security options, better integration with Google Drive, better offline capabilities and updated apps. Read more »

AMD just unveiled its second generation lineup of APUs. The replacement for the current Llano series Accelerated Processing Units is aimed at people seeking budget PCs and notebooks, which bears the name Trinity and boasts better efficiency and speed.

Sony has officially announced their first Ultrabooks, the VAIO T11 and T13. As you can guess, the former has a 11-inch display and the latter a 13-inch display.

Both Ultrabooks will feature a sleek magnesium and aluminum body that will be 17.8mm thick. You get a full set of ports, including Ethernet, VGA, HDMI, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0 and also an SD card slot. It has the traditional VAIO chicklet keyboard and a MacBook style trackpad that will hopefully will be similarly good. Read more »
