HTC Re camera update brings YouTube live streaming

If it’s worth doing on camera, it’s worth doing in front of a live audience right? Maybe even better! HTC’s Re action camera will gain the ability to livestream footage to YouTube starting tomorrow, which will set it apart from market leader GoPro.

Mophie launches new Juice Packs for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Mophie’s line of Juice Pack-branded battery cases are quite popular, and today the company has unveiled a trio of new such offerings, tailor made for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. What’s more, all three are already up for pre-order at the Mophie website (although when they’ll start shipping is still a mystery).

The iPhone 6 gets two options, the Mophie Juice Pack Air and the Juice Pack Plus, while there’s only one Juice Pack available for the iPhone 6 Plus. Read more »

Razer launches Forge TV Android gaming console and Nabu X smartband

Razer is getting out of its comfort zone for CES 2015. The gaming peripheral company announced an Android-based gaming console dubbed Forge TV. For good measure, Razer also revealed the Nabu X, a simple and affordable smartband with just three LED lights.

The Razer Forge TV is quite compact at just 4 x 4 inches and houses a Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 450 CPU, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 420 GPU. Read more »

Reach79 is a rugged iPhone 6 case which boosts signal strength

The ambitious California-based startup accessory maker Antenna79 took the wraps off a rugged case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that improves the device’s network connectivity. Dubbed Reach79, the case boosts the signal of a device up to 2x (1.6x on average).

The PhD scientists from Antenna79 have done the trick by embedding the case with a micro-thin, gold-plated antenna. Read more »

Apple introduces 14-day refund window for App Store, iTunes, and iBooks downloads in Europe

One of the things that has always annoyed me about the App Store was the inability to easily refund an app after you purchased it. While Google offered a one-click solution to this problem, Apple instead wanted you to either mail the developer or send a support complaint to Apple, explaining why you want to refund the app.

All that has now changed, as the company has introduced a new 14-day, no-questions-asked refund window, not just for the App Store but also downloads made on the iTunes as well as the iBooks store. Unfortunately, this is only available in Europe right now. Read more »

Top 10 Mobile Games of 2014

The past few years have been terrific for mobile gaming. The improvements in hardware has resulted in developers pushing harder with what they can come up with. It has also resulted in a lot of console and PC games being ported over, as it is now possible to do so without losing much in the process.

2014 was a great year for mobile games, with a lot of new games and ports appearing on both the major mobile platforms. We went through a ton of them in the course of a year with our reviews and although some of them were quite disappointing, most were excellent, which is why it was such a hard task to choose the top ten best games of the year, and even more difficult was to arrange them in an order.

Stickered for Messenger now on iOS

Facebook recently launched a new app called Stickered for Messenger, which allowed you to take pictures or use existing ones and then place Facebook Messenger stickers on top of them, before sharing them with others.

For once, the app was launched on Android first but now it is also available on iOS. The app is free on the App Store and only available on the iPhone (not the iPad). Read more »

‘Papers, Please’ for iPad game review

Papers, Please is a multi award-winning indie game on the desktop. The game was lauded for its interesting gameplay premise, involving an immigration office where your job is to go through people’s passports and documents to allow or deny them entry into the fictional country of Arstotzka.

Facebook’s new Stickered app lets you plaster stickers over your photos

The team that’s in charge of developing Facebook’s Messenger apps has come up with something new. The app is called Stickered, and it’s apparently due to be out in the Google Play Store for Android later today. It will also make it to iOS at some point in the future.

As you can see from the image above, Stickered basically lets you plaster the stickers you can find in Facebook Messenger over parts of your photos. Why you would choose to do such a thing is still quite the mystery, but – if you want to, now you can. Read more »

Apple Pay is on its way to Europe, pulled job ad reveals

If you were having doubts about Apple making its new payment service available outside of the US, then this is for you. Apple Pay is indeed coming to Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa. This has been confirmed by a job posting by Apple on its website.

The ad has since been pulled, but it mentioned the company was looking for a London-based intern to “drive out the rollout” of Apple Pay across the aforementioned territories. Read more »

Yahoo updates Weather app for iOS and Android with more animated effects

Today Yahoo has announced it’s published a new version of its app for both iOS and Android to the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store, respectively. The update is decidedly bigger for Android, where it introduces animated weather conditions (such as fog, rain, heat, snow, lightning, and frost).

Most of those have been available on iOS 8 since September, but today lightning and frost have made their way to devices running Apple’s mobile operating system as well. Read more »

Facebook for iOS can auto-enhance your photos

Instagram adds five new filters

Today is a big day for fans of Instagram, as it has received its first new filters in two years. The app now boasts five additional filters you can choose from, and it’s also gotten a couple of usability improvements as well.

The new functions are to be found inside Instagram version 6.4.0 for iOS, and version 6.12.0 for Android. These are already out in the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store. Read more »
