Xiaomi Mi Pro Action Camera went official just two days ago but it is already in the wishlist of lots of people. The small portable camera, also known in Asia as Xiaomi Yi Action Camera, packs a 16MP Sony Exmor R sensor with F/2.8 aperture and 155-degree wide lens. It is also capable of capturing videos up to 1080@60 fps, 720p@120 fps and 480p@240 fps.

The Nikon Coolpix P900 offers a whopping 83x zoom and up to 166x if you enable digital zoom. The impressive specs come from a fixed Nikkor ED lens that goes from 24mm f/2.8 to 2,000mm f/6.5 (that’s in 35mm equivalent).

Xiaomi has just announced its first action camera – the Xiaomi Mi Pro Action Camera. It has a Sony 16MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor in a tiny shell that weighs just 72 grams.

The Xiaomi Mi Pro Action Camera also features 16GB storage (a pre-installed 16GB microSD card class 10, which you can replace), Wi-Fi connectivity and 1,010 mAh battery. Read more »

New prosumer Nikon D7200 brings AF improvements, Wi-Fi and NFC

Nikon unveiled today an updated version of its D7100 prosumer DSLR. The new D7200 model carries improvements in several areas, among them increased buffer size and a bump in low-light sensitivity.

The D7200 comes with a different 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, compared to the predecessor’s 24.1MP. That is likely the Sony made unit featured in other models of the company, which would explain the marginal difference in resolution over the Toshiba imager in the D7100. Read more »

Nikon announces D810A for astrophotographers

Nikon has launched a modified version of its D810 DSLR, the D810A. The D810A is the first full frame camera in the world optimized for astrophotography.

Most cameras have an IR cut filter that is designed to allow only those wavelengths of light that the human eye can see, so that the resulting image looks similar to what it looks to the human eye. However, the light emitted by far away stars and galaxies are often well beyond our visual range, and in order to capture them properly, you need a camera designed specifically for such application. Canon unveils new upper-midrange 760D and 750D DLSRs

Riding its unveiling spree of the new full-frame 5DS and 5DS R and its second ever mirrorless camera in the EOS M3 Canon is also announcing its midrange and upper-midrange DSLRs in the Rebel T6s and T6i (that’s 760D and 750D outside the US).

The two cameras come as successors to the Canon 700D and offer a higher resolution 24.2MP sensor (over the 18MP of old), a new Hybrid CMOS AF III, 19-point all cross-type AF system (probably borrowed from the Canon 70D), 7560px RGB+IR metering sensor as well as built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, which is the first for the Rebel series. Canon announces EOS M3 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera

Canon has launched the EOS M3, the successor to its first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the EOS M. The M3 features a brand new 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and Canon’s latest DIGIC 6 image processor.

Other than that, there is also a new 49-point AF system with new Hybrid CMOS AF III, which is said to be 6.1x faster than the original EOS M, which had a notoriously slow autofocus system. Read more »

Canon announces EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R

Canon has launched two new high-end DSLRs, called the EOS 5DS and the EOS 5DS R. The difference between the two cameras is that the former has a low-pass filter, which blurs the image slightly to reduce moire, while the 5DS R lacks it, resulting in sharper images at the cost of increased moire.

Both cameras have a 50.6 megapixel sensor, the highest for any Canon DSLR or for any full-frame DSLR. There’s also a 61 point AF system, with 41 cross-type AF points. Both cameras use the new DIGIC 6 image processor. Read more »

Samsung NX500 has a flip-out screen, 4K video and retro design

Samsung’s latest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is its most powerful yet. The NX500 employs the 28MP APS-C-sized sensor from the NX1 that’s capable of 6480 x 4320px stills and 3840 x 2160px (read 4K) video at 30fps.

The new camera features a retro design and a flip-out 3″ Super AMOLED screen that can rotate for seamless selfies and is touch-sensitive. The NX500 can capture 9 fps stills, its shutter can go as fast as 1/6000s and offers an ISO range of 100-25600 that’s expandable to 51200. Read more »

Olympus Air is a lens style camera with PEN guts

Sony’s lens style cameras (QX10 and QX100) seemed like oddball devices, but they are gaining popularity. The Olympus Air A01 takes a micro four thirds image sensor from the company’s OM-D and PEN cameras and puts it into a self-contained body that can be attached to and controlled by a smartphone.

Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R specifications leak

Canon is expected to announced the EOS 5DS and the EOS 5DS R full-frame DSLR cameras this week. The specifications for both models have already been leaked.

Both models have 50.6 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, 61 point AF system with 41 points being cross-type, dual DIGIC 6 processor, ISO 100-6400 range (expandable to ISO 50 – 12800), 5fps burst mode, 1.3x and 1.6x crop modes, 100% field of view, 150,000 pixel RGB-TR metering sensor, 252 zone TTL metering, 1080p30 video, mini HDMI output, microphone input, and 3.2-inch LCD with 1.04 million dot resolution.
