Western Digital already released 3TB external drives two weeks ago and now it’s time for the 3.5-inches internal units. The 3TB Caviar Green has four 750GB platters, 64MB buffer and uses 3Gb/s SATA interface. It can be yours for 239 US dollars.
AMD is dropping the ATI moniker from its graphic cards range. Its future products will go sell under the AMD logo, but the family names will stay the same – Radeon and FirePro.

Today Intel announced the dual-core i5-655K and quad-core i7-875K processors with unlocked core multipliers and made overclockers around the world tremble with excitement. Unlike most of their “unlocked” predecessors those will not be top of the line exclusive models that cost an arm and a leg.
The 3.2 GHz Core i5-655K will support Turbo boost up to 3.46 GHz and will cost 216 US dollars, while the 2.93 GHz Core i7-875K will go as high as 3.60 GHz in Turbo mode and will set you back 342 US dollars. Read more »
There have been rumors about Seagate releasing a 3TB drive this year but it just got officially confirmed. Barbara Craig, senior product manager at the company has gone on record saying that “we are announcing a 3TB drive later this year”.
You know deep down inside that the 3.33 GHz of computing power brought by the six cores of the Intel i7 980X Extreme edition CPU just doesn’t cut it anymore. AMD have just announced the latest additions to their lineup of Athlon II CPUs. The five new members start from the budget-minded 3.2GHz dual-core Athlon II X2 260, which should retail for 76 US dollars, and climb up to to the 3GHz quad-core Athlon II X4 640 (MSRP 122 US dollars).
All the new processors are compatible with the AM3 and AM2+ sockets. While I doubt that the Athlon II X4 640 will be able to match the performance of even the cheapest Intel i5 quad-core processor, it’s going to retail for almost half of its price, making it an excellent choice for multi-taskers on a tight budget.
I’m eagerly waiting for those benchmarks to come out and show what those new chips are capable of.
The high-end CPU market has been considered an Intel-exclusive territory as of late, but AMD are still not given up on it. The six-core AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU has hit the shelves exactly on schedule and is set to give the core 2010 processors a run for their money.
AMD has just unveiled their first twelve-core CPU chips. Whoa, impressive, isn’t it? Unfortunately, the new AMD Opteron 4000 and 6000 are CPUs with mainly server applications. They upgrade the current lineup of Opteron CPUs with more than twice the performance while keeping the same power consumption.
Microsoft demoed a cross-platform game during the TechEd Middle East 2010. The game ran on their three most popular platforms – Windows 7, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 sharing the saved files between them.
