Olloclip unveils 4-in-1 photo lens for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

Olloclip is a name you may have heard if you ever looked for attachable lenses for your iPhone. The company has created a new edition of its 4-in-1 photo lens for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The design has been updated to allow the lens clip to be carried as a pendant, making it easier to bring with you everywhere.

The 4-in-1 photo lens includes a fish eye lens and a wide-angle lens. You can unscrew them to get a 15x macro and 10x macro lens respectively. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 disassembled, Sony camera found inside

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 adopted the metal frame of the Galaxy Alpha but disassembling it doesn’t seem too hard if you know what you’re doing. The metal frame comes off with the back side of the device and brings the antennas with it. The middle part is the motherboard, which houses a collection of sensors and chips.

One of the more interesting discoveries from the internals of the Galaxy Note 4 is the confirmation that the 16MP optically stabilized camera uses a Sony IMX240 sensor, rather than the 16MP ISOCELL sensor made by Samsung. Read more »

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands-on

Thinner and lighter than an iPad mini, more resilient to water too. It’s the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the third member of the Z3 family. Like the other two it’s waterproof and has front-facing stereo speakers, a Triluminos display and Snapdragon 801 chipset plus a camera with Exmor RS sensor.

There’s not much to the box – a charger and a microUSB cable. It may be worthwhile to invest in a magnetic charging dock or at least a cable so you don’t have to open the flap that protects the microUSB each time you want to charge the tablet. Read more »

225 million iPads sold to date, apps reach 675,000

New iPads are minutes away from being announced but Apple took a moment to look back at the outgoing models. The iPad line has sold an impressive 225 million units.

Because why not: a $54, 3G-enabled 7″ Android tablet

A Windows 8.1 tablet for $65? “Ha!” says NuFront, the chipset maker that has created $54 Android tablets. Unlike their Windows competitors the NuFront-based tabs have 3G connectivity out of the box – HSPA+, to be precise.

The tablets will be available in China at CNY 330 ($54), CNY 460 ($74) if you want the fancy version. Read more »

With an iPad even scheduled for tomorrow it may seem like an odd time to announce a new iPad Air keyboard but Belkin did just that. The new QODE Ultimate Pro keyboard offers an upgraded typing experience compared to the QODE Ultimate along with protection for your iPad.

BT4.0-enabled August Smart Lock arrives in Apple stores this week

If you haven’t heard of it, the August Smart Lock uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE and a smartphone in place of old-fashioned keys. It works with iPhones 4s and up (iOS 7 and later) and certain Androids (KitKat and later). The lock replaces a deadbolt and can be opened with a key in case you forget your phone or something goes amiss.

New Skype-made Qik app lets groups chat with 42-second videos

A small team at Skype went the startup route with the popular “send [arbitrary number] second videos!” formula. The new app is called Skype Qik (“quick”) and lets you record 42-second videos that you can send to one person or a whole group.

Vodafone Smart Tab 4G launches tomorrow at £125

Vodafone is expanding its Android tablet roster with one of the cheapest 4G LTE tablets around. Dubbed Vodafone Smart Tab 4G it will launch tomorrow at £125 on Pay as you go and £30 on a 1GB/£17 a month plan.

The tablet features an 8″ IPS screen with 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution and is surprisingly thin for a budged device, it measures just 8mm thick. Read more »

Testing the bending-resistance of Gresso’s aluminum iPhone 6 case

Bendgate is the latest [something]gate to plague the iPhone and Gresso has a case to cure that problem. The case is for the iPhone 6 rather than the 6 Plus, which is actually the one with bending issues.

Halo smartwatches have real movements, transparent OLED touchscreens

Smartwatches fall into two categories – a functionality-first type with square displays and looks-first with round design. An ideal execution of the second type will be an actual watch with a real movement and hands, but also with a display hidden in there somehow.
