Sony Ericsson caught up with Markus “Notch” Persson and Carl Manneh, the two heads of Mojang, the company responsible for the smash Indy gaming hit Minecraft.

The BlackBerry PlayBook gets a pretty comprehensive update, still lacks mail though

RIM have today issued the v1.0.5 update for their Tablet OS, which last time I checked covered the BlackBerry PlayBook and not much else. What the update brings is a host of welcome additions to PlayBook users and the screens below should give you a brief idea of how this affects the user experience.

Two titles have recently made an appearance in a pair of pretty awesome looking trailers, the first being Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, a squad based 3rd person tactical shooter offering co-op multiplayer between three PLAYs or competitive versus mode with up to a maximum of 10 players, not bad and the best news of all, it’s already out. Windows Phone Mango update brings enhancements to both Music+Videos, seems all too familiar

A couple of days ago Josh Phillips, Program Manager for Windows Phone Engineering posted about a bunch of enhancements coming to both Music and Videos in the upcoming Mango update on the Windows Phone Blog. The changes come on two levels, some proper additions and some background tweaks.

Firstly there’s the addition of Smart DJ, using “seeds” i.e. an artist, album or song, it congregates music from your library and makes various mixes to suit genre or mood. If you have a Zune Pass music subscription, it can pick from the bounty of tracks on the Zune catalog as well. Read more »

It looks like Microsoft will have a lot to shout about at this years Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on June 7. The biggest gaming event of the year plays host to the latest and greatest announcements from the largest hardware and software developers in the business and all eyes will without a doubt be on Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to deliver some juicy gaming news.

Toshiba’s newly announced 10.1 Android tab is hitting the US, but is it going to ‘Thrive’? [UPDATED]

We caught wind of a pretty beefy looking tablet coming up over the horizon from Toshiba at CES 2011 and it reared its head again a couple of weeks back. Twitter even gave us a name courtesy of some chatty actors starring in what was expected to be its TV ad debut, the ‘Thrive’ and now said mysterious tab is officially here, almost.

Mike Tyson: Main Event for iOS, now with Mr Chow from The Hangover Part II [VIDEO]

The Hangover was a sleeper hit in cinemas back in 2009 and the hotly anticipated sequel, The Hangover Part II, has just hits theaters worldwide. To tie in with the film’s release, boxing game Mike Tyson: Main Event for iOS got a Hangover themed update all its own.

Developers RockLive, have included a bunch of cool new content themed around the movie, the main draw being that now you can box with the likes of a Hangover II themed Mike and the infamous Mr. Chow guest stars as well. Read more »

Revamped Google mobile interface on iOS devices came and went, did you catch it?

Anyone else caught wind of this? Apparently some iOS users have recently stumbled upon a revamped version of Google’s mobile site. Primarily the changes are cosmetic but in a big way. It appears Google have gone for a more graphical UI, displaying their primary services via an app screen style, 4×3 layout with tabbed window elements to boot.

Huawei bringing a high-end Android device to the UK in 2011

Chinese Mobile manufacturer Huawei are looking to make a greater impact on the UK market and the Huawei Vision aims to signify their presence as a high-end smartphone contender.

Both Huawei and ZTE recently received approval to become official Windows Phone OEM’s but in the meantime, they’re setting their sites on the upper echelons of the Android market (not to be confused with the Android Market). Victor Xu, chief of strategy and marketing at Huawei, spoke of their upcoming high-end Android device, the Huawei Vision. Read more »

Hybrid vehicles have been on the roads for a few years now and offered better fuel economy with their combustion engine/electric engine combination. The most notable early examples were the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius, still big names in the hybrid world. More recently we’ve seen competition come in with cars like the Chevrolet Volt from the US.

Have HTC got a Thunderbolt Mini in the works, codenamed Mecha S?

Does an innocuous piece of code hold the key to an unknown HTC? Sources claim that this leaked user agent profile (or UAprof), makes reference to a previously unknown HTC device, codenamed the Mecha S.

UAprofs traditionally are used to display a device’s properties with regard to webpage rendering and MMS exchange. This one mentions the ‘HTC_Mecha_S’, which has lead people to believe this to be a small version of the HTC Thunderbolt as the Thunderbolt went by the codename ‘Mecha’ itself. Read more »
