My Xperia X8 has a Li Polymer one, Manufacturers tend to use both actualy.

Probably depending on the manufacturing country and thus on the avaliable raw materials.

Don’t worry about it too much, overcharging hardly have any impact on battery, and seeing how charging phones while you’re asleep means that the phone itself is in the state of deep sleep, heat is minimal.

Again, don’t worry about it too much, and charging phones while you sleep is such a commonplace behavior, would be silly for those guys over at the lab not to thing for a workaround around this.
