There are already a couple of TV webcams on the market that resemble the Kinect ( http://shop.skype.com/intl/en-hr/webcams/ ) and I haven’t yet heard of Microsoft suing any of the companies that make them. I guess we’ll see if they’ll sue Samsung, but I’d bet that they won’t.

As far as I’m concerned, Smart TV’s are stupid until they have the full support of the Android/iOS marketplaces. If I can connect my 1-year-old Android smartphone to my home theater projector and play Dead Space in HD from the comfort of my sofa on a 120″ screen, then why can’t a device built solely for that purpose do the same? If the masses were “smart”, they’d use the money they saved not buying a Smart TV to buy a non-Smart TV, a smartphone with HDMI-out, a cable, and a bluetooth keyboard/touchpad.

Even if you never used the phone as a phone, the total cost would still be cheaper than buying a Smart TV alone, and your TV would be significantly smarter than your neighbor’s Smart TV. For that matter, buy yourself a nice netbook or media center PC with HDMI-out and a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, and have yourself a Genius TV.

@Mirko935:disqus the design is enough for MS too sue Samsung..even tho they are targeted towards different markets..we dont see much “design based” lawsuit from MS is because they are a software company they dont design a lot of hardware..btw if u google MS lawsuits you will find hundreds of lawsuits microsoft has filed against other software compaines for design..

http://disqus.com/twitter-301433717/ It’s only physically similar, it has completely different functionality and all. I don’t think Microsoft goes around suing people for nothing but physical resemblance like we-know-who.
At least I’ve never heard of them doing such thing. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, though.
