Cell phone services were launched in india in 1995…and last week was the launch of 4g servies in the eastern part of India.

Q.:why india?
A:In just 16 years the subscriber base has grown by a factor of over 130, from 5 million subscribers in 2001 to over 881 million subscribers as of October 2011. The Mobile telecommunications system in India is the second largest in the world.The mobile market was continuing to expand at an annual rate in excess of 40% coming into 2010.

However the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) is one of the lowest in India and with 3G and 4G services coming in ARPU is set to increase multi-fold.

Its 1st mover advantage (in India) which Amazon doesnt want to lose and hence its a perfect business decision to tap the market at the right time. Moreover it gives visiblity to Amazon, which in a circle otherwise controlled by e-bay and other players in india.

Just like every corporate, even Amazon wants to make money…and India is a huge market still untapped.

It doesn’t matter what skin colour someone is – human is human. Just ignore any retards who still discriminate based on race today.

It’s kinda funny, I just yesterday followed Paul O’brien’s post on how to access the amazon appstore outside US and created an account with that. a day later i can create an official account staying in India!!
