Acer refreshes the Iconia Tab A3, new look and Android 4.4 KitKat in tow

Acer has apparently decided that its Iconia Tab A3 was in need of a revamp, and so the company worked on the A3-A20. This looks like it will succeed the previous model (A3-A10) in Acer’s portfolio.

In fact, it’s already been listed by Acer official sites in both Italy and Spain. And thanks to that, we get to know everything about it.

First off, the design has changed compared to the A3-A10 from last year. And there are a few other minor differences between the new tablet and the old one too. The Acer Iconia Tab A3-A20 runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

It has a 10.1-inch 1,280×800 touchscreen, 16 or 32 GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD cards), a 5 MP rear camera, and a 2 MP front-facing unit. It’s powered by a MediaTek MT8127 chipset which comes with a 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU, aided by 1GB of RAM. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS are all in.

The battery capacity is noted as 3,540 mAh on Acer’s Italian website, and 4,700 mAh on its Spanish page. For now it’s unclear which is the correct number, but hopefully it will turn out to have been the latter. The Iconia Tab A3-A20 weighs 540g, and its dimensions are 256 x 171.1 x 8.9 mm. It’s only going to be offered in white.

In Spain, it’s even received a price: €199, or about $265. That said, there’s no telling when it will actually become available for purchase. Perhaps an official announcement is due to happen soon.
