In landscape mode, especially with a white screen background, all edges are crisp white. Turn the unit to view the same screen in portrait mode and what was the bottom edge in landscape now shows a noticable grey gradient tint from ourtermost edge (darkest) towards the center (lightest).
Do any of you owners experience this?

All available comparisons largely comes to OS limitations and poor optimization of benchmarks (GLBenchmark obviously has some special optimizations for iOS).
