5ushi is absolutely right. GUI's are the true revolution in mobile at the moment. I detest Apple for its closed off mentality, but credit where its due, they have fantastic software and have made it simple and more importantly, profitable for developers. Thats why the iPhone continues to sell despite the fact it has been matched/exceeded from a hardware point of view.

Bada is lovely and fluid. Its simple and practical and seems to be stable (I've only tried a few things on it mind). It has also taken social networking very seriously, and offers a wide range of utilities to tie in various social networking accounts. The problem at the moment is developer support. Unless Samsung can truly motivate developers to step forward and provide a decent wealth of apps, it will never make it as a smartphone platform.

As for the Galaxy Player, I think its another clever move by Samsung. They have DEFINITELY stolen design aspects from Apple and why not? Apple sell, they sell very well, but they are not for everyone due to the huge amounts of restrictions. Samsungs target market will be people who like Apple design, enjoy the simple GUI and superb quality but can't live with iTunes/file restrictions. There are plenty of those people out there......I'm one of them!

Honestly, from the current uptake rates, I don't know. The BADA OS certainly isn't turning heads, and it has a HUGE amount of catching up to do to JUST get on par with Apple's app store (which is what Samsung was after in the first place). I'd give the BADA another 6 months or so to see where things go, and how agressively Samsung promotes it.

Unfortunately I've never tried out the BADA OS in person so can't really comment on it. It 'looks' like a decently fluid GUI but my personal opinion, I'd say Apple's got the better GUI experience than anyone else out there at the moment. That's the one and single thing I give Apple credit for, GUI quality. ...Which is why we today are seeing new OSes everywhere as manufacturers try and woo potential customers with that similar 'fluidity'; the closest phone that I'd say comes close to Apple in regards to GUI is the Nokia N900 and Maemo.

Don't confuse yourself though. Hardware specs ain't everything. Just because you have a 1GHz Hummingbird inside doesn't mean your GUI will be quick and smooth (something which the MAJORITY OF INDIVIDUALS TODAY DON'T SEEM TO GET). You can have all the high-end hardware in the world stuffed into a gadget; they are all useless unless they are implemented right with the right GUI / software. So yeah, it comes down to the amount of time the company invested in developing the code for the GUI, to get it to be as efficient as possible with the given hardware. This is the one thing that I'd say Apple has done right, and something which other manufacturers have realised and is trying to imitate. As for BADA, I don't know how long Samsung's been developing it behind closed doors (I hear about a year but I can't really confirm it).

Your usual individual today just goes along and buys the best and the latest because of the social status benefits it brings with it. They don't care about GUI and all that technical stuff. Personally I only get what I need and not what I want. That has resulted in me getting older gadgets but hey, they ain't as buggy as the newer releases I'll tell you that.

Do you really think there is no touchscreen handset design on earth rather than that of iphone ?
then have a look on Nokia X6/Nokia N8, Motorola Milestone, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 and Sony Ericsson Vivaz .
each phone from them has a different design from the others, and certainly from the iPhone

and yes many touchscreen smartphones predated the iphone
but, the iphone is the 1st one to adopt this design

If you have another design for a full touch screen device, I'd like to hear it. How else can you design a touch screen device that DOESN'T look like the iPhone? And to set things straight, for all I care Apple wasn't the first company to design and make a touch screen phone. So in your books that equals to Apple being copycats too..?
